Introductory stage. Offer just 1 sorting board at a time. Sort.
Next step. Offer both Fish and Turtle boards at once with a pile of all plywood colourful chips. Sort.
Memory game. Indeed, you can. 😉 Choose 1 board. select 3 pairs of the same colour and 1 odd colour (different from the pairs).Use the unpainted surface of the board. Then insert the chips randomly, facing the colours down. The objective is to collect the most pairs of chips. It is suitable for 1 player or for 2 players.

On each turn, a player turns over any two chips (one at a time) and keeps them if the chips match (for instance, two reds). When a player turns over two chips that do not match, those chips are turned face down again (in the same position) and it becomes the next player’s turn. The trick is to remember which chips are where. The person with the most pairs at the end of the game wins. Short but simple to grasp the first strategy of a memory game!

Pattern recognition. The time has come to use the task cards. Each card shows a random set of coloured chips on boards. The exercise is to reconstruct the patterns shown on the cards.
